Help Test a New Treatment for Peri-Operative Pain

This study is exploring a potential new approach to managing peri-operative pain, the pain experienced before, during, and after a surgical procedure, with the goal of improving patient comfort throughout the surgical journey.

Synthetic cannabidiol (CBD), a compound that is also found naturally in the hemp plant, is used in this study. Unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD does not cause any psychoactive effects or a “high.” It is combined with an inactive ingredient called Kolliphor, which helps CBD dissolve so it can be given as an intravenous infusion.

At present, post-operative pain is commonly managed with opioid medications such as fentanyl and oxycodone. While these can be effective, they may be associated with side effects, and prolonged use can carry risks, including dependency.

This trial aims to assess the safety and tolerability of a single dose of the drug in healthy male participants.
