Help Test a New Treatment for Transthyretin Amyloid Cardiomyopathy
This clinical study is evaluating a new treatment for the treatment of Transthyretin Amyloid Cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM).
ATTR-CM is a serious heart condition caused by the build-up of proteins in the heart muscle, leading to heart stiffness and heart failure symptoms such as breathlessness, tiredness and swollen legs. Many cases are associated with genetic mutations that affect how these proteins are formed.
The investigational treatment has been developed to affect the expression of a protein which can be responsible for the development of transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy. It is hoped that this may reduce symptoms of heart disease in people with ATTR-CM and improve their quality of life.
The study will investigate the safety and tolerability of the investigational drug, and how it is processed in the body following a single dose.
